Me & Mine

"The fact is that most putts don't drop, most beef is tough, most children grow up to be just people, most successful marriages require a high degree of mutual toleration, and most jobs are more often dull than otherwise. Life is just like an old time rail journey.... delays, sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinder, and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling bursts of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride." President Gordon B. Hinckley

Life goes on...

Every year in October, my mom takes the grandkids to Hogle Zoo for her birthday. This is what we did today. It was fun but not real relaxing because we had the twins too. I think 8 is a hard age.

On Sunday, we all managed to wear pink so of course we had to get a family picture.
Last weekend we went to Liberty Park and this time we took Cody with us. It was a lot of fun and I am really treasuring family time lately because...

A dear friend of mine had her little boy exactly 9 weeks after Charlie was born. We were pregnant together and she helped me make Charlie's crib bedding, a mommy cover, and a carseat canopy. She is such a giving, sweet, selfless person. She has not been able to bring her little boy home yet though because he has hypoplastic left valve syndrome. A big problem with his heart. He just had the first of many surgeries on his heart when he was only 4 days old. Everytime I pick up my little guy to cuddle him, feed him, love on him, anything, my heart just aches for my friend. I cannot imagine the pain she is going through. I don't want to. I feel so blessed to have my little guy home and healthy and yet I feel so undeserving. I just made a list of 12 things I know I should be doing but don't. 12! Things like read my scriptures daily, cook dinner, read books to my kids everyday, do at least one weekly service project; things that will help me step outside myself and benefit others. I am so incredibly blessed and I think a good way to show my Heavenly Father my gratitude would be to start doing these things.

Ahh Jen... those are such great goals and thanks for the reminder to me to be better. I loved the talk in conference about AIMING HIGHER! I think it's so important to try and remember that but it is also so hard to forget that. I love the family picture of you guys. I can't for little Ezra to come to I can cuddle him like you in the bottom picture. Love yah.

Looks like fun! That list thing is a good idea- I should make one for myself too.
