Me & Mine

"The fact is that most putts don't drop, most beef is tough, most children grow up to be just people, most successful marriages require a high degree of mutual toleration, and most jobs are more often dull than otherwise. Life is just like an old time rail journey.... delays, sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinder, and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling bursts of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride." President Gordon B. Hinckley

The story of "Lulu"

When I was 8 weeks pregnant, Cody had a dream that we were having a little girl and in his dream, he came up with the most perfect name for her! He even told himself in that half-conscious state between dreams to remember the name so he could tell me in the morning. Well when he was completely awake, he realized it wasn't as perfect as he had thought and it gave us both a good laugh. But it became her nickname throughout the pregnancy. The twins would kiss my belly and tell "Lulu" that they love her. We would all pray that "Lulu" would get here safe and so on. When she was born, Cody was sitting with me in the recovery room and told me we need to give this kid a name. I was all drugged up so I wasn't much use. I asked him what she looked like and he said, "She looks like a Lulu." I told him we couldn't name her that so we came up with Rian Desiree, which is both mine and Cody's middle names. However, she really does look like a Lulu and the name has just stuck.

She is the light of our lives and the best thing I've ever done. She goes through about 15 outfits a day because she just loves to play dress-up, she always wants me to make her hair pretty, paint her toes, play care bears with her, dance, dance, dance, and she sings "I am a Child of God" to herself all day long. I'd probably have a great job, be helping us get out of debt, and living in a nice big house if we had held off on the starting of a family thing but there is no way I would be this happy and I wouldn't trade the mommy experience for anything in the world. As I finished typing this, she just told me, "Mommy Jennifer, I lub you." How could it get better than that?
